Modernizing the Discover Financial Member Benefits Experience

Transformed Discover Financial’s outdated Member Benefits portal into a modern, high-traffic digital destination. By aligning user-centric design with educational content, the project successfully increased customer engagement and clarified the value proposition of Discover’s credit card suite.
Strategy and Solution
As the Project Lead, I partnered with a dedicated writer to overhaul the site’s information architecture and visual language.
We restructured the content into four digestible categories—Security, Rewards, Service, and Budget.
Instead of dense text, we utilized a minimalist aesthetic with custom iconography and high-quality lifestyle imagery to "show, not just tell" the benefits of the card.
We introduced clear call-to-actions (CTAs) for key features, such as the "Freeze Your Account" toggle and Social Security Number alerts, turning the page from a static document into a functional tool.
Finally, I integrated a refreshed color palette and typography that brought the portal in line with Discover’s premium digital identity.
The Results
Award-Winning Excellence: The redesign was recognized with a GDUSA Graphic Design Award, highlighting its balance of aesthetic beauty and functional utility.
Increased Traffic & Awareness: The site transitioned from a stagnant asset to a primary educational hub, successfully driving customer traffic and increasing benefit activation.
Optimized UX: Simplified the user journey for reward redemption and security management, reducing friction for cardmembers across all devices.
